Minot – The #1 ranked Stanley Blue Jays knew they would be in for a tough battle against the #9 ranked Shiloh Christian Skyhawks. In the end both teams demonstrated why they have been mainstays in the Class B polls all season.
After trailing for most of the game, the Skyhawks took the lead on a three-pointer from 6’9” post Macauley Young with five minutes remaining. This would set the stage for a thrilling finish.
Blue Jay junior Seth Hetzel answered right back with a three-pointer of his own to put the Blue Jays back on top.
The Blue Jays would get another bucket from Hetzel and a pair of free-throws from Roderick McIntosh to extend the lead to 56-51 with under 30 seconds left.
Shiloh would narrowly miss an opportunity to close the gap when Canaan Fagerland’s three-point attempt rattled in and out moments later.
Blue Jay senior Wyatt Hanson would seal the game shortly after by hitting two free-throws to put Stanley up 58-51, Hanson finished with a game high 20 points.
Seth Hetzel would tally a couple of free-throws with 3 seconds left to give us the final score of 60-51, Hetzel finished with 19 points.
The Blue Jays will travel to Killdeer on Monday to take on the Cowboys.
