Stanley – The North Dakota State Football team entered this season with hopes for a 5th straight title, they are one game away from making those hopes a reality.
NDSU will face a difficult test when they meet the Jacksonville State Gamecocks for the national championship (Jan. 9th). The Gamecocks are coming off of a 62-10 victory over Sam Houston State in the semi-finals. Jacksonville State enters the game with a record of (13-1) , with their sole blemish being a 27-20 loss at the hands of then #6 ranked Auburn.
The Bison have overcome two losses (Montanta and South Dakota) and a loss of their starting quarterback Carson Wentz on their way to the championship game. Freshman sensation Easton Stick has been solid, he remains unbeaten as a starter. North Dakota State has also gotten superb play from it’s defense down the stretch.

There is also plenty to cheer about if you are a UND fan. The Univeristy of North Dakota men’s hockey team finds itself in a familiar spot, near the top of the national polls. UND (16-2-2) currently sits in second place in the USCHO poll, trailing Providence.
UND entered this season with a new coach behind the bench. Brad Berry took over the reins for Dave Hakstol, who left to take over the head job for Philidelphia Flyers (NHL). Despite the coaching change, UND finds itself in a great spot to make another Frozen Four run.
UND hosts Alabama-Huntsville this weekend.
