Stanley glides past Ray in girls hoops

Stanley – The Stanley Blue Jays outscored the Ray Jays 28-14 in the second half to secure a key district 16 win.

The Blue Jays were able to shrug off a slow start on their way to a 49-33 victory. “It took us a while to get things flowing offensively,” said Blue Jays coach Kelly Roemmich. “We played strong defense in the second half which helped us get into a rhythm offensively.”

Stanley found themselves in early foul trouble, this forced the Blue Jays to rely heavily on Kelsey Colbenson, Danae Vachal and Haley Schmidt. All three filled in nicely, the trio set a season high for minutes.

The Blue Jays were paced offensively by Abby Iverson who scored 15 points. Lacey Meiers added 13 points for the Blue Jays, while Maddie Meiers added 10 and some slick assists.

The Blue Jays host Westhope-Newburg tomorrow at 5:45.
