Stanley – The Stanley Blue Jays eased past the Westhope-Newburg Sioux for a 71-52 victory Friday night.
The Blue Jays were able to get into an offensive rhythm immediately, jumping out to a 13-1 lead. “We moved the ball well, they were sitting back in a zone and we were able to take advantage of it,” said Blue Jay sophomore Wyatt Hanson.
Stanley was also able to show off their depth, an asset that many other teams in the region wish that they had. “It is a nice luxury to have, we know that we have a bunch of guys that are ready to step up and go,” said Blue Jay junior Logan Aadnes.
“I thought our execution offensively and defensively was excellent in the first half,” said Blue Jays coach Kory Anderson. “We came out with a lot of energy, our bench players played really well.”
Wyatt Hanson paced the Blue Jays balanced attack with 13 points. Sophmore Kaedyn Hanson added 12 points, while Aadnes added 11 points for Stanley.
The Blue Jays face Watford City tomorrow in Ray Basketball Tournament.
