Ray – The Stanley Blue Jays picked up a 61-49 win over the Watford City Wolves on Saturday night in Ray.
The Blue Jays (6-2) were able to bottle up the Wolves offensive attack from the opening tip. “We asked Bray Meyer and Ryan Neshiem to guard their two leading scorers and they held them well below their season averages with only 10 and 7 points,” said Blue Jays coach Kory Anderson. “Bray really got us going offensively as he scored 6 of our 10 first quarter points. We need to keep building our chemistry/effort and avoid taking steps backward. The guys were really excited as this was our first win vs Watford City.”
Neither team was sharp offensively in the first half, the teams combined for only 42 points. The Blue Jays were able to get things going in the third quarter, outscoring the Wolves 19-12.
Stanley was paced offensively by senior Bray Meyer and sophomore Wyatt Hanson, both players had 16 points to lead the Blue Jays. Junior Logan Aadnes and sophmore Kaedyn Hanson added 11 points and 10 points respectively.
