Stanley – The Stanley Blue Jays put on a defensive clinic in their 62-17 victory over the Divide County Maroons.
Stanley was able to hold Divide County to a single point in the first half, the Blue Jays held a 28 point lead at halftime.
With the big lead, the second half proved to be predictably anticlimactic. This allowed the Blue Jays to go deep into their bench for an extended period of time, something that could pay dividends down the road.
The Blue Jays will certainly hope to build off of this strong effort as they enter the heart of their season. “Gotta keep building and playing unselfish,” said Stanley Blue Jays coach Kory Anderson. “We got a tough few weeks that will tell us who we really are.”
Stanley junior Jath Mansfield paced the Blue Jays offensively with 14 points. The Blue Jays had 10 players register a field goal in the game.
The Stanley Blue Jays travel to Killdeer to take on the Cowboys on Monday.
Halftime: Stanley 29, Divide County 1
Stanley (62): Mansfield 14, W. Hanson 9, K. Hanson 8, Dusek 7, Aadnes 6, Patten 6, Meyer 4, Enget 4, Neshiem 2, Hetzel 2
