Region Tourney

Team Capsules:

#1 Watford City – The Watford City Wolves have steamrolled every team that they have played in Region 8 this season. The Wolves entered last years tournament on a similar note, only to be upset by Parshall in the championship. They are the heavy favorite to represent Region 8 in the State Tournament.

#4 Ray – Ray had a strong showing in the District 16 Tournament. The Jays are 0-7 against the other teams in the Region 8 tournament.  A victory in the first round for the Jays would be a monumental upset.

#2 Kenmare – The Honkers have won 6 of their last 8 games, they draw a team in the first round that beat them by 19 points earlier in the season.

#3 Trenton- Trenton was a victim of a minor upset in the District 15 Tournament when they lost to Parshall. Trenton is 17-3 on the year.

#1 Stanley- The Blue Jays (15-6) cruised to a 25 point victory over Kenmare in the District 16 Championship. Stanley has beaten all three teams on their side of the bracket this season. The Blue Jays will look to avenge last seasons Region Tournament loss against the Eagles.

#4 New Town – New Town is a bit of an enigma. The Eagles played a long stretch of the season without a significant part of their starting lineup, they are a scary #4 seed.

#2 Parshall- Parshall beat their first round opponent Powers Lake by 22 points on Jan. 4.

#3 Powers Lake – Powers Lake has lost 5 of their last 8 games. The Ranchers have some nice pieces, a first round upset isn’t out of the question.

The North Dakota Region 8 Girls Basketball Tournament kicks off Monday Feb 22nd in Ray.
