Stanley – The Kenmare Honkers took a 48-45 win over the Stanley Blue Jays in District 16 action.
The game featured the two top teams in District 16 and could be a prelude to the district championship game in a couple weeks. Both teams entered the game with identical 13-3 records.
The Blue Jays jumped out to a 28-15 halftime lead but things would go south from there. Stanley’s 13 point lead would turn into 3 points after the 3rd quarter. The Honkers would continue to rally in the fourth quarter and take a 3 point lead into the game’s waning moments. The Blue Jays had a look at a game tying three pointer at the buzzer but it was off the mark.
The Blue Jays will look to improve on their performance as they get ready for the post season. “Got to rebound better, got to get loose balls, and got to make free throws. That was the difference,” said Stanley Blue Jays coach Kory Anderson.
The Blue Jays are now 13-4 on the season.
