Bowbells – The Stanley Blue Jays got back to their winning ways with a 62-47 win over the Burke County Titans in boys basketball.
The Blue Jays jumped out to an early lead and never looked back en-route to their 14th win of the season, Stanley held a 20-12 lead after the first quarter.
The Blue Jays were paced by sophomore Wyatt Hanson’s 17 points. Sophomore Kaedyn Hanson added 12 points for the Blue Jays, senior Bray Meyer chipped in 10 points for Stanley.
Stanley plays Des-Lacs Burlington tomorrow and will look to sharpen a few things up before the District 16 Tournament. “Made too many mistakes defensively and didn’t have much rhythm offensively,” said Stanley Blue Jays coach Kory Anderson. “Burke’s defense made it difficult on us.”
Stanley will enter the District 16 tournament as the #2 seed, they will play the #7 Divide County Maroons in the first round. Stanley holds two large wins over the maroons (87-27 and 62-17) this season. We will have a full preview of the District 16 Tournament when the bracket is released.
