Stanley – The North Dakota Class AA football is upon us once again, here is a look at the 2016 Stanley Blue Jays football team and what you can expect to see on the gridiron.
Head Coach: Bob Bartz (Second year)
Assistant Coaches: Brent Danks, Cameron Lentz, Seth Wistoff
2015 Record: 2-7
“A major loss came in the form of graduation on the offensive and defensive line; Matthew Heidbreder, Garret Hoelscher, Gio Flores, and Daniel Bolen. Another loss came in the back field losing both fullbacks Kellen Enget and Dallas Lamping, both of which also played linebacker along with Quinn Lindley. Kaden Evenson was the sole graduation in the secondary at the safety position.
Two big key players coming back are Logan Aadnes and Tate Enget. Both players will be seen in the backfield with Tate getting the majority of the carries and Logan also being featured from the wide receiver position. Colton Rudolph is the lone returning lineman and he is going to be counted on to be a leader for the new starters. Ryan Nesheim and Dalton Brown are both back at the outside linebacker position, both will be seeing significant playing time on offense as well. Wyatt Hanson will be back playing QB, with last year’s knowledge of the offense we look forward to big things. Terek Enget also saw some starting time toward the end of the year due to his good play and hard work, hopefully it carries over for a good season.
We have a lot of new faces with starting roles this year but with the hard work of two a days and other returning starters helping them along; everyone has a good idea of their job and role for the team and I am excited for this 2016 season”, said Stanley Blue Jays Head Football Coach Bob Bartz.
Thoughts from the Gazette:
The Blue Jays have faced plenty of adversity on the football field since their move up to Class AA a few years ago but there is room for optimism in Bartz’s second season at the helm.
Stanley will need to fill in some crucial gaps on both sides of the line but the Blue Jays do return some key skill players in Hanson, Tate Enget and Aadnes as well as other players with experience in other key areas.
Stanley will be looking to find some creative ways to get Aadnes the ball in space, the Blue Jay senior is a threat to take it to the house from anywhere on the field with his elite quickness. Stanley showed some flashes last season of a team that can compete at the AA level, they will look to do that on a more consistent basis this season.
This figures to be another exciting Stanley Blue Jay football season and as always we expect a great atmosphere at all of the games.
When can you see the Blue Jays in action?
