Stanley – The Grafton Spoilers were able to hold off a third quarter comeback attempt by the Stanley Blue Jays, enroute to a 40-32 win in North Dakota AA Football.
The Stanley Blue Jays found themselves down 10 points at halftime, a deficit that they would quickly erase with two quick touchdowns from senior Logan Aadnes and junior quarterback Wyatt Hanson. Unfortunately, the Spoilers would go on a 16 point run of their own to retake a 32-20 lead. The Blue Jays would attempt to rally back for a second time, and they were able to cut the lead back down to 6 following Tate Enget’s second touchdown of the contest.
It looked as if the Blue Jays might have a chance to tie the game late but a score by Grafton with under two minutes remaining would put the game out of reach. The Blue Jays would add a score with a little over a minute left to pull within 8 points, but they would get no closer.
The Blue Jays will look to recover next Friday when they host the Watford City Wolves.
