Stanley- The Valley City Hi-liners took home a road victory over the Stanley Blue Jays in North Dakota West Region Class AA Football action.
A couple of late scores by Valley City helped to make the score look lopsided, but the game was actually heavily contested throughout.
Stanley took a 22-20 lead following a long Tate Enget touchdown run. Unfortunately, Valley City would answer right back with a score of their own to go up 28-22 midway through the 3rd quarter.
The Blue Jays would have an opportunity regain the lead in the fourth quarter following a nice interception in their own end-zone on 4th down, but the Hi-liners were able to come up with a key stop of their own to thwart the Blue Jay comeback.
The Blue Jays also picked up touchdowns from Wyatt Hanson and Ryan Neshiem.
There was also an incident in the second quarter that lead to the disqualification of a Hi-liner player after he appeared to kick a Blue Jay player.
Stanley will travel to Bismarck on Oct. 7th to take on St. Mary’s.
Halftime: Valley City 20, Stanley 14
