Powers Lake, Ray advance in District 16 Volleyball Tournament

Tioga – Neither the Powers Lake Ranchers or the Ray Jays had lost a single set to their quarterfinal opponents in the District 16 Volleyball Tournament coming into today’s action. The Jays and Ranchers made sure that it remained that way with both teams cruising easily 3-0 over Tioga and Burke County  respectively.

Powers Lake took set one 25-14, set two 25-5 (Powers Lake scored the first ten points of the set), set three 25-9. Hard hitting combination of Grace Hove, Sydney Titus, and Brianna Honrud proved too much for the Tioga Pirates defense who was under siege all night from the fierce Ranchers attack.

Ray glided easily as well winning set one 25-12, set two 25-8, and set three 25-11.

The two teams will now meet in a semifinal match-up at 7:30pm on Tuesday. The Ray Jays won their only meeting 3-0 on September 15th.

Kenmare will face Stanley in the other semifinal at 5:45pm. Tioga will face Burke County at 4:00pm.
