Powers Lake claims spot in District 16 championship game

Tioga – The only regular season meeting between the Powers Lake Ranchers and the Ray Jays didn’t go very well for the Ranchers, the Jays won that match 3-0. The two teams would meet again in the semifinals of the North Dakota District 16 Tournament, and things would go much better for the Ranchers.

The powerful hitting of Grace Hove, Sydney Titus, and Brianna Honrud tormented the Jays all night, while the slick passing by junior Sadie Maruskie helped aid the three heavy hitters.

All three sets were close with the last two being decided by only two points.

The Ray Jay attack was lead by senior Marissa Veach and Maari Dolan who had 9 kills and 7 kills respectively.

Powers Lake will move onto the championship game where they will face the Kenmare Honkers. Both Powers Lake and Kenmare will advance to the Region 8 Volleyball Tournament

The Ray Jays will take on Divide County for a berth in the Region 8 Volleyball Tournament.

Sets: Set 1: Powers Lake 25- Ray 21, Set 2: Powers Lake 25 – Ray 23, Set 3- Powers Lake 25 – Ray 23
