Stanley picks up road victory over New Town, Powers Lake girls cruise by Kenmare

New Town – The Stanley Blue Jays picked up a hard fought 89-76 road win over the New Town Eagles.

The Blue Jays erupted for 50 second half points. The Hanson duo (Wyatt and Kaedyn) combined for 29 of their 48 points in the crucial second half.

Senior Logan Aadnes added 17 points to help pace the Blue Jays offensively.

Senior Terrance Steele had a strong offensive showing for the Eagles, pouring in a team high 23 points.

The win is the Blue Jays fourth in a row and sets up a very intriguing matchup tomorrow night with Des-Lacs Burlington. The Lakers received votes in the latest Class B Basketball poll and are riding a 7 game winning streak of their own.

Powers Lake picks up key District 16 win over Kenmare

Powers Lake -The Powers Lake Ranchers kept their hopes for a District 16 regular season title alive with a convincing win over the Kenmare Honkers.

The Ranchers jumped out to a big 27-12 halftime lead, senior Brianna Honrud had 9 of her game high 16 points in the first half. Junior Sydney Titus and senior Grace Hove both scored in double figures to help pace the Ranchers offensively.

The Ranchers move to 8-2 on the season with the win, they travel to Trenton on Saturday.  The Ranchers control their own destiny for the District 16 regular season crown, they have a key game coming up next Thursday against Stanley that will go a long way towards determining the #1 seed for the District 16 Tournament.
