Enget signs with Valley City State

Powers Lake – Powers Lake’s Tate Enget has decided to continue his education at Valley City State University, where he will be competing for the football and track teams next season.

VCSU’s focus on education, as well as an opportunity for him to compete in multiple sports helped to seal the deal for Enget. “I decided to go to Valley City State because I can play football and do track and field at the same time, said Enget. I also went to an individual skills camp at VCSU and a tour of the college and I enjoy the way that they talked about me as a student first, and an athlete second.”

Enget is going to be studying education at Valley City State, something the school is well known for. “I plan on being a History/Phy-Ed teacher and am looking forward to taking those classes at VCSU.”

The Powers Lake senior is excited for next year but he still has a few goals that he would like to accomplish before his high school career is completed, “My goals for the rest of the year are to play the best that I can for our basketball team, said Enget. My goal for the track season is to qualify by time for as many events as I can, and to get all the short distance relays qualified for state.”

Enget’s current and future coaches both marveled at his incredible work ethic. “Tate is a hard working kid, he showed up every single day with a goal of getting better, said Stanley-Powers Lake Football Coach Bob Bartz. He brought energy to practice everyday, he is a competitor.”

Those thoughts were echoed by the Valley City State University staff, “ We are excited about Tate joining us in the fall, said Valley City State Defensive Coordinator Gregg Horner. Tate loves football and is a great teammate. Like all freshmen signees coming in he will need to be ready to work.  The good news about Tate is that he is not afraid of work.”

The Valley City State Vikings are coming off of a 6-4 season, including a 4-2 record in the Northstar Conference.
