Braves slip past Blue Jays

Stanley- The Parshall Braves pulled off a thrilling 78-76 comeback win over the Stanley Blue Jays on Thursday.

The game was tight throughout and the last 40 seconds were full of drama. The Parshall Braves took a one point lead with 45 seconds left, after trailing for most of the game.  Freshman Taylor Dean stepped up to the free throw line a few seconds later and hit a couple of clutch free-throws to retake the lead for the Blue Jays, Dean was an impressive 8 for 8 from the line in the fourth quarter.

8th Grader Logan Lapica came up with a huge block on the following play, but the Blue Jays would miss a shot on their next possession and commit a foul going for the rebound.  Andrea Yellowbird would hit two free-throws to give the Braves a one point lead with 15 seconds left. The Blue Jays would turn the ball over on their next possession, allowing Ashley Hall the opportunity to hit one of two free-throws on the Braves next possession, giving the Braves a 2 point lead with just under 4 seconds remaining. The Blue Jays would get off a good look to as time expired but it would not fall.

Junior Abby Iverson poured in a game high 30 points to pace the Blue Jays offensively, Stanley will face Kenmare in the first round of the District 16 Tournament in Ray.
