Blue Jays, Titans will determine District 16 Tournament seeding tonight

Stanley -Tonight’s game between the Stanley Blue Jays and the Burke County Titans is the final home game for the Stanley Blue Jays. The game also has some serious implications for the District 16 Tournament that will start on the February 24th.

Tonight’s game will streamed live on the Stanley Gazette homepage.

(The following scenarios assume that Powers Lake beats Divide County tonight.)

*If Stanley wins tonight the final seeding would look like this:

  1. Kenmare
  2. Powers Lake
  3. Stanley
  4. Burke County
  5. Ray
  6. Tioga
  7. Divide County

*If Burke County wins the final seeding would look like this:

  1. Kenmare
  2. Burke County
  3. Powers Lake
  4. Stanley
  5. Ray
  6. Tioga
  7. Divide County

The difference in seeding would not only have an impact the District 16 Tournament but could also impact the Region 8 Tournament as well.

If both the 3-4 seeds qualify for the Region Tournament without making the Championship game, the seeds would carry over to the Region 8  Tournament. (i.e the higher seed of the play-in game qualifiers will be the District 16 #3 seed, unless the two teams played in the first round of the Tournament. In that event, the winner would be the #3 seed from District 16 in the Region 8 Tournament.
