Watford City – The New Town Eagles have had the Stanley Blue Jay’s number in the Region 8 Tournament, this is the third year in a row that the Eagles have beaten the Blue Jays in the first round.
The Blue Jays looked solid early on and the score was deadlocked at 10 points a piece midway through the first quarter.
Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, it would be all Eagles from that point on. New Town’s Marveen Ross was the star of the game in last years opening round game, things were no different tonight. The sophomore standout posted a triple double (18 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 steals) to lead the Eagles to a convincing 71-42 victory.
Abby Iverson paced the Blue Jays with 13 points, senior Caitlyn Enger poured in 12 points, and freshman Taylor Dean both chipped in 11 points.
The young Blue Jays finish the season with a 9-13 record overall. New Town moves on to the semifinals were they will face the Parshall Braves.
