Williston – The North Dakota Class B District 15 Basketball Tournament kicks off on February 24th at Williston State College.
Here is preview of the upcoming action:
#1 Parshall Braves
Outlook: The Braves are red hot right now, winners of their last 11 games. The Braves have faired well against Region 8 competition this season, with their only loss coming to Kenmare in January.
The Brave have a strong post presence inside with the senior Deyondre Simpson and junior Billy Moran, which will give them a decided advantage over most of the teams in the region.
Senior Jelani Foote will be the teams primary ball handler. The Braves should cruise easily in the first round. A potential semifinal matchup with New Town looms, something many basketball fans are hoping to see.
#4 New Town Eagles
#5 Watford City Wolves
Outlook: The Eagles have some impressive games on their resume this season, headling that list is a 80-66 win over Kenmare a couple weeks ago. Which Eagles team will show up to the tournament? The team that beat Kenmare and took Parshall to the wire? Or the Eagles team that lost to North Shore and Trinity Christian?
The Eagles beat the Wolves 79-61 early in the season.
Outlook: The Wolves record is a bit misleading because they played one of the most difficult schedules in the Region. The Wolves have a win over #2 Trinity Chistain this season (57-50).
#2 Trinity Christian Crusaders
#7 Mandaree Warriors
Outlook: The Crusaders beat the Warriors 72-56 on February 10th. The Crusaders knocked off their possible semifinal opponent #3 North Shore 52-47 in overtime on January 13th.
Record: 3-10 (Scores not reported)
Outlook: The Warriors appear to be fighting an uphill climb versus the Crusaders in the first round. The Warriors lost to #1 seed Parshall 75-49 and #3 seed North Shore 65-55.

#3 North Shore Wildcats
#6 White Shield Warriors
Outlook: The Wildcats are another team that is tough to gauge. They beat #4 New Town 62-60 and lost in overtime to #1 Parshall, but recently they lost Powers Lake 67-54 and then got dismantled by Stanley 82-57. This team is certainly one to watch they have a strong inside game lead by junior Hart Andes and strong guard play from senior Donovan Lopez.
Record: 5-7 (Scores not reported)
Outlook: The Warriors lost to the Wildcats 75-62 on the January 24th. The Warriors beat Dunseith 89-79 on January 9th, their most impressive win of the season.
