Ranchers, Wolves, and Braves advance at Region 8 Girls Basketball Tournament

Watford City – Senior Brianna Honrud poured in a game high 21 points to lead the Powers Lake Ranchers to a 43-31 victory over the Trenton Tigers. The win is the first for a District 16 team in the last 3 Region 8 Tournaments.

The Ranchers will face the Watford City Wolves in the semifinals. The Tigers end their season with a 14-8 record.

The Watford City Wolves were able to shake off a sluggish start to advance past the Kenmare Honkers 51-29 in the opening round of the Region 8 Girls Basketball.

Senior Mckenzie Sparby scored a game high 17 points to pace the Wolves. The Honkers end their season with a 9-13 record.

Watford will face the Powers Lake Ranchers in the semifinals tomorrow.

The Parshall Braves pulled away in the 3rd quarter to secure a 70-64 victory over the Ray Jays. The Braves held a 7 point lead early in the 4th quarter before District 16 Senior Athlete of the year Marissa Veach came alive for the Jays to help close the lead to 1 point with a little over two minutes left, Veach scored 10 of her team high 19 points in the 4th quarter.

Sheridyn Packineau and Aulora Severance score 22 points and 21 points respectively to pace the Braves. Sidney Hall came up with some big plays down the stretch for the Braves, she finished with 11 points.

The Braves will face the New Town Eagles in the semifinals.
