New Town holds off Powers Lake for 3rd place

Watford City – The New Town Eagles held off a late charge by the Powers Lake Ranchers to claim 3rd place in the Region 8 basketball tournament.

The Eagles lead by 25 points mid way through the 2nd quarter, but the Ranchers would rally to pull within 6 points with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Eagles would come up with a couple key steals late to help seal the game.

The sophomore duo of Marveen Ross and Tyleigh Brady combined for 31 points tonight. The duo also combined for six 3-pointers.

The trio of Grace Hove, Brianna Honrud, and Sydney Titus combined for 41 points.

Brianna Honrud recorded her 2000th career point on a second half basket (see article).
