Blue Jays survive and advance

Article by Ian Grande

Williston – The Stanley Blue Jays looked like they were in firm control of their first round matchup against the Watford City Wolves. The Blue Jays lead by 17 points with under 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter before the Wolves went on a 37-21 run to finish the game.

The Wolves clawed back to cut the lead to 1 point with under a minute left in the game and on their next possession they would take their only lead of the entire game with 33 seconds remaining.

The Blue Jays worked the ball around on their next possession before senior Logan Aadnes drove to the hoop and converted a lay-up with just over ten seconds remaining.

The Wolves would have one last shot at the win but Aadnes would come up with the game clinching steal to secure a 80-79 victory for the Blue Jays.
