Williston – The Stanley Blue Jays used a fourth quarter rally to clinch a berth in the Region 8 Championship game.
The Blue Jays and Ranchers traded blows early on, with the Blue Jays jumping out to 7 point lead after the first quarter. That lead would quickly evaporate in the 2nd quarter as Logan Klitzke and the rest of the Ranchers would go on a 22-8 run to take a 7 point lead into halftime. Klitzke poured in 13 of his team high 22 in the first half, the senior also finished with five 3-pointers.
The Blue Jays would trim the lead to 3 points by the end of the 3rd quarter. Wyatt Hanson came alive early in the 4th quarter with a thunderous dunk, which he followed up with a steal and another basket.
Stanley was able to parley the momentum from the Hanson dunk to pull ahead for the first time since early in the second quarter. Powers Lake had some opportunities to claw back into the game with a couple minute remaining but just couldn’t hit enough shots to keep up with the Blue Jays down the stretch.
Hanson finished with a game high 24 points, 18 of which came in the 2nd half. The junior finished the game with 3 huge dunks.

Sophomore Aiden Nordloef finished with 16 points for the Ranchers.
Stanley will face the Kenmare Honkers in the Championship game at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow. Powers Lake will face the Parshall Braves in the 3rd place game at 1 p.m.
