Wolves top Blue Jays in prep baseball

Watford City – The Watford City Wolves picked up a 5-3 win over the Stanley Blue Jays in Region 7 Baseball action on Friday.

Brock Haugeberg picked up the win for the Wolves, the sophomore pitched five strong innings, striking out seven Blue Jay batters.

Blue Jay junior Cody Ruden hit a towering home run in the first inning to give the Blue Jays an early lead.

Haugeberg picked up an RBI  in the bottom of the first when he knocked in junior Hunter Neether, tying the game.

The Wolves would take their first lead of the game in the bottom of the third when Haugeberg scored a run of his own.

Stanley Employment:

Stanley picked RBI singles from Ryan Nesheim and Mason Rice in the top of the fifth to take the lead back.

Watford City would snag the lead back for good in the bottom of the fifth after Haugeberg, Neether, and sophomore Liam Shannon scored to go up 5-3.

Stanley’s Mason Rice picked up a game high 4 hits, the senior finished 4-4 on the night.

The Blue Jays will host North Shore/Plaza on Monday.
