Makoti- Cody Ruden punched out 13 Lewis and Clark Warrior batters, propelling the Blue Jays to a 5-2 victory.
The junior has come on strong recently for the Blue Jays. Ruden and senior Kaydin Meiers figure to be a formidable duo down the stretch for opposing batters.
“Ruden’s arm has definitely improved over the last few weeks, and he seems to have total control of his pitches,” said Stanley coach Cameron Lentz. “Regardless of the score board, he pitches very well in our games.”
Meiers picked up a triple and a double to pace the Blue Jay offense. Ruden also added a couple of singles.
The Blue Jays also picked up a non-conference victory over Garrison-Max. Senior Ryan Nesheim pitched five strong innings to pick up the victory.
A pair of strong outings is exactly what the Blue Jays needed as the regular season nears completion.
“It felt good to get a pair of wins today, I know that our kids needed them,” said Lentz. “Hopefully the kids can gain some confidence for our next outings against New Town and Ray, and bring that confidence and momentum into the regional tournament.”
The Blue Jays will host New Town on Tuesday and Ray on Thursday to wrap up the regular season.
