Ray – Stanley came out firing against Lewis and Clark/Parshall on Tuesday, allowing the Blue Jays to come away with an impressive 11-1 over the defending Region 7 Champions.
“We were able to come out swinging today and get things moving at the start of the game, which really propelled us throughout the rest of the game,” said Stanley coach Cameron Lentz.
Kaydin Meiers had another excellent showing on the mound for the Blue Jays, the senior had the Lewis and Clark batters guessing all game. Meiers finished with 9 strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings of work.
“Kaydin Meiers pitched another great game for us, and our defense completely backed him up,” said Lentz.
The Blue Jays got on the board after senior Ryan Nesheim scored on a wild pitch in the third inning. Cody Ruden followed that up with a timely two out single that scored two Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays received contributions from all 9 players at the plate and were steady in the field. 8th grader Chance Bieri and Jared Anderson displayed their improvement by flipping a slick 5th inning double play to thwart the Lewis and Clark rally attempt.
The senior trio of Meiers, Mason Rice, and Ryan Nesheim combined for 6 hits.
The Blue Jays will face the #4 seed Ray Jays on Saturday, in the “final five” of the Region 7 Tournament in Lansford.
