Former Stanley resident pulls off huge upset in opening round of Pine to Palm Golf Tournament

Detroit Lakes – Former Stanley resident Alan Spriggs pulled off a huge upset in the opening round of the Pine to Palm Golf Tournament at Detroit Lakes Country Club by outlasting the # 5 seed current North Dakota State golfer Dax Wallat (2 &1) .

Spriggs qualified as the 61st seed for the 64 person match play tournament by shooting an two-round score of 148 (6-over). 178 golfers attempted to qualify for the 64 person field.

The Pine to Palm Golf Tournament is widely considered to be one of the top amateur golf tournament in the tri-state area. The tournament features many f the top collegiate golfers and amateurs from North Dakota and Minnesota.

 

Spriggs moves on to face Andrew Passanante in the round of 32.
