Stanley – The Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood Mavericks stunned the #2 ranked Stanley Blue Jays at the buzzer.
The Mavericks entered the game on a three game losing streak but looked impressive from the opening tip.
Senior Trevor Savelkoul was lights out in the first half for the Mavericks, hitting five 3-pointers in the opening 24 minutes.
The Mavericks were able to take a six point lead into halftime, a lead they would push to 14 points in the third quarter.
Stanley would rally back in the fourth to make things very interesting. Matt Patten picked up 13 of his team high 22 points in the fourth quarter to help the Blue Jays take the lead with 2 minutes remaining.
The lead would remain at one with under twenty seconds left when MLS senior Riley Strand stole the ball to give the Mavericks a chance to win the game.
The Blue Jays defended the initial shot well, but the rebound went to Strand who tipped it over to senior Levi Feland for the bucket at the buzzer.
Trevor Savelkoul had a game high 27 points for the Mavericks.
Stanley senior Wyatt Hanson scored his 2000th career point in the game (see article here).
