Bismarck – Stanley’s Wyatt Hanson has been named North Dakota’s Mr. Basketball.
Hanson won the award in convincing fashion. He picked up 69 votes, which was the total of the second place (Kyler McGillis- St. John) and third place (Trae Steckler-Mandan) finishers combined.
The award comes after a historic season for Hanson. The senior led the Blue Jays to the State Tournament for the second consecutive season. Hanson was named a unanimous All-State Tournament selection for the second consecutive year.
Hanson finished as the State Tournaments leading scoring for the second straight year with 76 points. He also led the tournament in assists (17) and finished third in rebounds (33).
Hanson was also named the North Dakota Class B Senior Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of the Championship game.
Wyatt Hanson moved into 13th on the all-time scoring list, he finished his career with a staggering 2249 career points.
Hanson made his commitment to play basketball at Minnesota State Moorhead earlier this season.
