Stanley Softball Coach Anthony Cuypers game notes:

Game #1 )#4 Stanley BlueJays 11- #5 KBMLS 8

The girls started the game of great. We got 2 runs across the plate thanks to back to back doubles from Alyssa Ruden and Shayna Dazell. Alyssa would come back up in the 3rd inning and help her own cause with another double that fell at the base of the fence driving in 2 more runs. We got up 8-0 after 4 innings and had a little mental lapse were we had a pop up fall out of the heel of our glove for the 3rd out that allowed 2 runs to score and let KBMLS back into the game. Girls fought hard the remaining innings and secured the victory on the hottest day we have played all year.

Alyssa was 2-2 at the plate with 2 Doubles, 2 Intentional Walks, and 3 RBI’s

Game #2) #4 Stanley BlueJays 1- #1 DLB-LC 11

DLB-LC is an excellent team and to face them immediately following the KBMLS game. The girls played tough, but were exhausted after the 1st game thanks to the heat. Very proud of the girls with the way they fought through this game. Alondra Salgado caused havoc this game on the base paths taking 3 bags. She was 1-1 on the day, and also reached base with a walk and hit by pitch.

Game #3) #4 Stanley BlueJays 8- #3 Westhope-Newburg-Bottineau 6

We the coaches challenged the girls today to play the most complete game we have played all year and they responded. We jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st but quickly gave up 2 runs back to WNB. We took the lead back in the top of the 3rd, scoring 3 runs, with 2 of those coming off of a triple hit by Shayna Dazell. We had the bases loaded in the top of the 5th with 0 outs, but we couldn’t get a ball out of the infield. We held a 4-2 lead until the bottom of the 5th when WNB scored 4 to take a 6-4 lead. I challenged the girls in the top of 6th to dig deep, keep believing and they responded by scoring 4 runs. We got it tied up at 6 and had the bases loaded again and Taylor Dean hit a double to drive in 2 more run to take an 8-6 lead. Alyssa Ruden then pitched her lights out retiring 6 of the last 8 hitters.

Stanley secured the #3 seed for the NW and will play the #2 seed from the SW at 2pm in Turtle Lake.

Alyssa Ruden and Melody Taylor were named to the ALL NWC Sub Region Team.
